Student Support

St. Philip School is unique because it draws students from 7 different school districts. The students are offered a variety of services and enrichments. An ESAP (Elementary Student Assistance Program) Team comprised of teachers and professional counselors is in place to help teachers and students. The Allegheny Intermediate Unit offers Speech and Hearing Assistance, and diagnostic testing for behavioral and academic concerns. The local school districts provide reading and math remediation. There are also programs for instrumental music, enrichment for accelerated students, and after school tutoring as needed with classroom teachers.

The PTG arranges and underwrites monthly enrichment programs on a variety of topics and the staffed library and Reading Is Fundamental project encourage students to develop the habit of reading for enjoyment. The school cafeteria serves hot lunch daily and offers a varied menu with healthy foods. We are adhering to the Guidelines advocated to serve healthy foods in our fight against obesity.  We are adhering to the guidelines advocated to serve healthy foods in our fight against obesity.  A school nurse is available on call daily and is in the school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In order to provide clear lines of communication between school and home, St. Philip maintains a school Web site with links to individual classroom Web pages, publishes a monthly newsletter, school directory, and annual yearbook featuring individual, class, and candid shots of students and faculty. An after School Child Care program operates from 2:30-6:00 PM on school days and there is a summer camp with free breakfast and lunch for children ages 5 –12.
